Summer Vacation

A quick note from your cruise director about our summer plans.
the Go-Gos

Sound Advice is taking a summer break from May 28 through Sept. 10.

The past year has been a rollercoaster of personal challenges, and my schedule hasn't been leaving much room for this. What doesn't always come through is how much work goes into each issue, only to begin the whole process again the following week. For a one-woman operation running alongside a full-time job, that's a lot, and I'm giving myself permission to say so out loud. When I'm already running on fumes, the last thing I want is for this to feel like a chore.

I'm also using this stretch to think through what Sound Advice looks like going forward. This newsletter has grown from something I sent to friends into something read by a few hundred people I've never met and somewhere in the process it started feeling a little too one-sided for my tastes.

While the weekly show previews are on pause, the site won't go quiet. Features will publish on a rolling basis through the summer. Email subscribers get them first; they'll be live on the site the following day. Paid subscribers will also receive a monthly show previews edition through the summer.

The May 28 issue feels like the right place to hit pause—it's my mega super duper bonus size edition covering all things West Philly Porchfest and other happenings.

If you're a newer reader, this might feel like a lot to take in. For paid subscribers who want a refund, drop me a line and we'll work something out.

Thank you for reading this, and for reading all of it—I'm genuinely grateful. A special thank you to Yoni Kroll, whose work expanding the site's writing beyond the newsletter has been instrumental in helping me rethink where Sound Advice goes from here. There's still more to come, but right now, there's a lounge chair waiting for me.

Yr pal,

Maria T
